Rama Vaidyanathan

Rama Vaidyanathan is an Indian classical dancer. She uses her body and her performances to promote on AIDS awareness and women's rights. In india there are many injustices against women: female infanticides or bride burnings. So Rama decided to use the dance as a form of protest. In a interview she explains that there are three Goddesses: Lakshmi, Saraswati anda Durga.

They are the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, learning and education, finally Durga is very empowered because she kills all the demons.

Rama explains us that it's very important to considerer the traditions and preserve our curtural heritage. I think that Rama's protest is a modern form to fight women's rights. She is very particular because she protests also in a traditional way, using the indian dance.
